Rafał Sarniak
Python engineer, astrophysicist, robotics graduate, fire artist and maker. I live at the intersection of code, science and craft — and love every one of those worlds equally.
01. Work
I have been working as a Python developer at a large technology company for several years, on the Test Automation Core Team. For six months I rotated to the Data Science Team, where I worked with machine learning and data analysis at production scale.
Before that I spent several years as a PhD student and later a full-time researcher at university — during that time I built a number of research tools I am not yet sharing publicly, but they will appear here soon.
02. Education
I hold degrees in astrophysics and robotics engineering. Astrophysics taught me to reason about data at enormous scales; robotics taught me that hardware and software must speak to each other flawlessly.
03. Side projects
I run Arta Foc Fire Dancers Theatre — an artistic group specialising in fire juggling and LED light shows. For the theatre I design and build custom props:
- Custom LED juggling props — parts designed in CAD, 3D-printed, with custom firmware
- Embedded electronics, firmware, hardware prototypes
- Research software from my university years (open-source release coming soon)
